County Auditors

County Auditors

Sullivan County has three elected County Auditors. Each serves a four-year term. Elected County Auditors are members of the Pennsylvania State Association of County Auditors (PSACA). The organization was formed to provide guidance and education supporting the duties of the county auditors. The auditors attend a spring caucus and a fall conference yearly to keep up to date on accepted auditing practices.

The duties of the County Auditors require them to audit, settle, and adjust the accounts of all county offices by examining and reconciling all bank statements with deposits, receipts, and expenditures.

The Sullivan County Auditor's Office reviews the following departments/offices/accounts:

  • Register and Recorder

  • Prothonotary

  • Sheriff

  • Treasurer

  • Tax Claim

  • Magisterial District Court

  • Children and Youth

  • Domestic Relations

  • Planning & Development

  • Sullivan County Library

  • Sullivan County Tax Collectors – 13

The elected County Auditors also complete an annual state report of the financial condition of the county to Pennsylvania’s Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED). This state report, The County Annual Financial Report, is based on the county's contracted auditors, Larson, Kellett & Associates, P.C.'s financial statements and Single Audit Report.

Copies of the annual Auditors' Reports and the Single Audit can be downloaded, and the Auditors' Report Book can be viewed at the courthouse.

Audit adjustments and settlements are made in accordance with the law, rather than generally accepted auditing standards. These duties are performed on behalf of the taxpayers.
