Jury Services
The jury selection set for Monday, September 29th beginning at 8:30 am is proceeding as scheduled. Please arrive early to allow time to enter through security.
The right to trial by jury is a fundamental guarantee under both the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. This right carries with it a corresponding civic duty: individuals of sound judgment are obligated to serve as jurors when summoned. The absence of public participation in this process would erode the protections afforded by this constitutional provision.
Jurors are selected through a randomized process from voter registration and driver license records. Upon selection, individuals are required to appear on the date and time specified in their summons. The role of a juror is to impartially evaluate evidence, apply the law as instructed by the Court, and deliberate in good faith with fellow jurors to reach a verdict.
Juror service ensures that legal disputes are resolved by members of the community rather than by government authorities alone. The Court recognizes that jury service may pose scheduling difficulties for prospective jurors. To mitigate such concerns, advance notice of the required appearance date is provided. Any questions or requests for clarification may be directed to the Office of the Jury Coordinator.
By serving, jurors uphold the rule of law and contribute meaningfully to the administration of justice.
