Administrative Employment Opportunity: Director of Children & Youth Services
The Sullivan County Commissioners are seeking qualified and highly motivated applicants for the Full-Time position of Director of Children & Youth Services.
The successful candidate must possess a valid PA driver’s license with a good driving record and must be able to pass a criminal background check.
The successful candidate should possess a master’s degree in social work, social welfare, public administration, or a closely related field. Ten years of progressively responsible experience in the field of social services is preferred with a required three years of experience in an administrative or supervisory capacity in a children and youth social services program agency. An equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities will be considered.
This administrative position requires excellent knowledge of the following: state, federal, and county standards, regulations, and policies governing children and youth social services programs; practices of administration, supervision, and community organization; current social, economic, and health problems and resources available to meet problems affecting children and youth; individual and group behavior with special emphasis on children and youth needs and behavior patterns; and policies and operations of Juvenile Courts and probation and parole agencies.
The Director must have the ability to exercise proper judgment in interpreting and implementing state, federal, county, and departmental program policies and procedures, including the Child Protective Services Law, Juvenile Act and must have the ability to plan, organize, and direct a children and youth agency and evaluate staff and program effectiveness.
The candidate must have excellent communication and organizational skills with absolute attention to detail and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
